Actor-rapper RZA has joined the cast of Django Unchained for director Quentin Tarantino. Frozen River star Misty Upham has also signed on.

RZA will portray Thaddeus, a violent slave toiling away at a Mississiippi plantation. Misty Upham will play Minnie, who owns a trading post/bar. This will be RZA's first time acting for Quentin Tarantino, although they have worked together in the past. RZA composed the score for both Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2. Quentin Tarantino is also presenting RZA's directorial debut, The Man with the Iron Fist.

Quentin Tarantino is directing Django Unchained from his own original screenplay. It isn't known when production will begin on Django Unchained, although it is expected to start shooting very soon.

RZA will next be seen in A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas this weekend, and G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation next summer.
