Marvel Studios is having themselves another absolutely massive year. Several movies that are coming out next year, including Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are currently under production and Captain America: Civil War is currently the highest grossing movie of 2016. Next up for Marvel is Doctor Strange, which will be introducing a brand new character to the MCU, and we might have finally just learned who the villain of the movie will be. Be warned, there are potential spoilers ahead.

We have known for quite some time that Casino Royale and Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the bad guy in the movie, but who exactly he is playing has been kept totally under wraps. A new report from Heroic Hollywood claims to have discovred who Mikkelsen is playing, and it comes from a bit of a strange source. Some details for a new Doctor Strange toy set have been released and if the information is correct, Mikkelsen will be playing a character named Kaecilius. Here is the description of the Marvel Minimates toys.

"Marvel Minimates Series 70 Doctor Strange Movie 2-Pack Asst. A Diamond Select Toys Release! The next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the next entry in the long-running Marvel Minimates line! Series 70 of Marvel Minimates mini-figures travels to the world of the Doctor Strange movie, with four different two-packs: Dr. Strange with The Ancient One, Mordo with Kaecilius, the specialty-exclusive Stephen Strange with Christine Palmer and the specialty-exclusive Wong & Zealot! Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts. Each two-pack is packaged in a full-color window box."

The character of Kaecilius, at least in the comic book world, is a disciple of Baron Mordo, who is being played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in the movie. Mordo is one of the biggest Doctor Strange villains in the comics, but he is reportedly going to be working with Benedict Cumberbatch in this movie, at least on the surface. So who knows what Marvel is planning should it come to pass that Mikkelsen is actually playing Kaecilius, but the villain choice makes sense. Recently, Mikkelsen opened up about his role in an interview with Yahoo Movies!, saying that his character isn't exactly a villain in the traditional sense.

"He's not a villain in that way - he's a man who believes in something else than the hero. That doesn't mean that he doesn't want to make the planet look wonderful or he wants to save the world as well, but he has a different way of doing it. He is the antagonist, of course, but he's not necessarily wrong."

It is very possible that Kaecilius is just some sort of a placeholder name for the toy packaging, but the fact that he is being packaged with Baron Mordo is a bit of an indicator that may very well be true. Either way, the picture is starting to come together a bit. The description of the toys also reveal that the character of Zealot will be included in the movie, which is fairly interesting because in the comics, he is associated with mutants heavily, and most of anything associated with Marvel mutants is over at Fox. These toys also seemingly confirm that Rachel McAdams is in fact playing Night Nurse Christine Palmer, which has long been suspected.

We are probably going to learn a lot next month at San Diego Comic Con, as director Scott Derrickson pretty much confirmed that the movie will be on display in some capacity at the convention. Being that Doctor Strange is a very unknown property to most of the general public, it makes sense that Marvel would want to try and get everyone on board at SDCC. Doctor Strange is set for a November 4, 2016.
