Now that Captain America: Civil War has kicked off Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are looking forward to a new character being introduced on the big screen. Doctor Strange will be the second movie of Phase 3 when it hits theaters on November 4, and we got our first glimpse at the Sorcerer Supreme in action when the first trailer debuted back in April. While we wait for the next footage to be released, new merchandise photos give us perhaps our best look at this iconic costume yet.

The photos surfaced on Twitter earlier today, featuring our first look at mugs, lunchboxes and pint glasses featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as the title character. We don't know when these items will be up for sale yet, or how much they'll cost, but we can certainly expect a lot more merchandise to be revealed in the months ahead. Unfortunately, this merchandise doesn't offer glimpses of any of the supporting characters, such as Tilda Swinton's Ancient One or Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo, but hopefully we'll get new looks at these characters soon.

Doctor Strange tells the story of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), an acclaimed neurosurgeon who uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions after a near fatal car accident. The film will show audiences corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe never before explored, thanks to director Scott Derrickson, who is working from a script by Jon Spaihts, based on the comic book character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The movie will go up against Warner Bros.' Bastards and 20th Century Fox's Trolls when it hits theaters on November 4.

The supporting cast includes Mads Mikkelsen as the unnamed villain, Rachel McAdams, who has been rumored to play the Night Nurse, Michael Stuhlbarg as Nicodemus West, Benedict Wong as Wong, plus Amy Landecker and Scott Adkins as unspecified characters. There has already been plenty of controversy surrounding Tilda Swinton's character Ancient One, who has typically been portrayed as a Chinese male in the comics. We'll have to wait and see if this controversy affects Doctor Strange's box office performance when it hits theaters this November.

It isn't known when Marvel plans on releasing a new trailer for Doctor Strange quite yet, but it's possible that the studio is saving this footage for San Diego Comic Con next month, although it hasn't been confirmed if the studio will have a presence at the convention. The studio famously skipped SDCC last year, but with Doctor Strange in post-production and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wrapping up production, it's possible we could get glimpses of at least one of these movies next month. While we wait for more details on Marvel's Comic Con plans, take a look at the Doctor Strange merchandise photos below.
