Doug Jones Waiting to Hear About ‘Silver Surfer’ Spin-off

Doug Jones, the actor who provided the motion capture performance for the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, told SCI FI Wire that he is still awaiting news on whether a proposed spin-off starring the Surfer is going forward.

It has been rumored that J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) has been hired to write the script, with Alex Proyas (I, Robot) slated to direct. However, Jones remains uncertain about the future of the project. "I know as much as you do about that," Jones said. "I wish I knew more. They supposedly have a writer hired who's been talking about it at Comic-Con. So that's how I heard about him."

Jones has expressed an interest in returning if the film does move forward. "As far as if they're going to come back for me again, I'm contracted for two more. Whether they exercise that contract or not is up to them." Jones also said that he would prefer to voice the character of the Silver Surfer in the spin-off. In Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, the voice for the Silver Surfer was provided by Laurence Fishburne.
