Dominic Cooper is in negotiations to join the cast of Dracula for Universal Pictures and director Gary Shore.

Luke Evans is starring as the title character in this drama that blends Bram Stoker's fictional Dracula tale, with the true story of Prince Vlad the Impaler, a historical figure who served as Bram Stoker's inspiration for creating the iconic vampire. It hasn't been confirmed who Dominic Cooper will play, but some are speculating that he may portray Mehmed, a Turkish sultan who takes Vlad under his wing. Sarah Gadon also stars as the female lead.

Gary Shore is directing from a screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Flash Gordon), with Michael De Luca producing and Alissa Phillips executive producing. No production schedule was given.

Dominic Cooper most recently starred in Dead Man Down, and will next be seen in DreamWorks' Need for Speed video game adaptation.
