Drew Barrymore has signed onto produce and possibly direct an adaptation of Heist Society for Warner Bros. The studio recently won a bidding war for the rights to Ally Carter's novel.

Shauna Cross will adapt the book, with Drew Barrymore supervising the writing process. Drew Barrymore made her directorial debut with Whip It!, which Shauna Cross wrote.

The story follows a young woman named Katarina Bishop, who walked away from her family of cat burglars in search of a normal life. When her father is the prime suspect in the robbery of a gangster's art collection, Katarina puts together a team to steal the artwork back.

Back in March, we reported that Drew Barrymore will direct How to Be Single for New Line. Drew Barrymore will focus on Heist Society after How to Be Single has wrapped.

Warner Bros. is looking to cast young actresses in their 20s for Heist Society, although it seems this project won't be shooting for some time.
