Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may have recently seen his dominance of the DCU slipping away, but it seems that the wrestler-turned-actor is certainly doing something right in his chosen line of work after being voted the “Most Popular Actor” in a study poll of Generation Z. This is just another feather in the cap of Johnson, who easily beat off the likes of Tom Holland and Johnny Depp to claim the accolade. The Black Adam star obviously paraded his latest achievement on his social media account, commenting:

"Cool Stuff. Thx u Gen Z for choosing this Gen X big, brown, bald, tattooed, fanny pack man as your #1. I'll continue to work hard to provide entertainment and comfort for all you As well as good tequila. If you're over 21. Thanks again, means a lot.".

Johnson also shared the Morning Consult poll, which showed that Johnson easily beat his nearest rival, Tom Holland, as well as a headline snap from CNBC, which explains that “Americans between the ages of 13 and 25 were asked for their opinions of 35 film actors and 35 internet content creators. Wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne Johnson earned the highest net favorability rating among the former group.” Of course, this news should not come as too much of a surprise, considering Johnson has been a constant fixture of the big screen since the early 2000s and has provided his fair share of crowd-pleasing seat-fillers in that time.

Dwayne Johnson may have seemingly lost Black Adam as a long-running franchise, but that doesn’t mean he will sit back twiddling his thumbs in the future. Currently, the actor is already promoting his Apple TV Christmas movie Red One, which sees him teaming up with Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons for a festive blockbuster. Following that, plenty of existing franchises are vying for his attention.

Most prominent of this pack of possible future hits are two planned sequels to Netflix hit Red Notice, which saw Johnson playing “greatest FBI Agent” on the hunt for art thief Gal Gadot and her rival Ryan Reynolds. While there has been little update on the movies, it seems they were already green-lit by Netflix, pushing them high up on Johnson’s To-Do list.

In addition to this, another Jumanji sequel is also being developed, as well as more adventures on board Disney’s Jungle Cruise, making sure that there is plenty to look forward to for Johnson fans, of which there are clearly plenty. It is unlikely that Johnson will only be planning on appearing in sequels in the near future, but as of now, there has been no word on where his career may take him next. Having had a crack at the DCU, it would be hard to rule out a shift over to the MCU on the horizon, especially with some big roles coming in the future with the introduction of the X-Men and more. Whatever the future holds, Dwayne Johnson clearly has the backing of a whole generation in everything he does.
