We were really rooting for Johnny Galecki (Christmas Vacation; The Big Bang Theory) or Anthony Michael Hall (the original 1983 Vacation) to come back and reprise their role as Rusty Griswold for the upcoming Vacation reboot that New Line Cinemas and Warner Bros. currently has in the works.

Sadly, they've gone with their The Hangover star Ed Helms, who, honestly, doesn't strike us as a convincible offspring of Chevy Chase. Whatever. This will be the fifth time that the role of Rusty Griswold has been rebooted.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, writers of 2011's Horrible Bosses, will direct from a screenplay that they penned together. The story willl follow Rusty as he embarks on a family summer vacation of his own that is reminiscent of the one he took 30 years ago to the day with his ol' pops Clark Griswold.

It is rumored that both Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo will appear in the film in some capacity, but that has yet to be confirmed by New Line Cinemas or Warner Bros. Our hope is that they can get Anthony Michael Hall, Johnny Galecki, Jason Lively, and Ethan Embry together for a Rusty reunion. We'd definitely pay to see that.
