It looks like Emma Roberts is trying to outpace both her dad Eric and her Aunt Julia when it comes to work. According to Variety, the sixteen year old has just signed on to star in Universal Pictures Wild Child.

The film follows the adventures of a spoiled Malibu Princess who is sent to an all-girls boarding school by her strict father.

The script was written by Roald (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) Dahl's daughter, Lucy Dahl. She based a lot of the story on her own experiences, having attending a boarding school when she was in her teens. The film should allow Roberts to show some much needed edge, having just graduated from the more kid friendly Nickelodeon series Unfabulous.

You can catch Emma this summer when she stars in the Warner Bros. film Nancy Drew, which opens on June 15th.
