Four years after it was first announced in February 2010, Walt Disney Pictures is moving forward with Enchanted 2, bringing on The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2 writers J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to pen the script.

Our first report revealed that Jessie Nelson (Because I Said So) was writing the sequel, but it isn't known if J. David Stem and David N. Weiss are starting over from scratch, or working from the first draft. No story details have been released.

Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is directing, with Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld returning to produce.

It isn't clear yet if original Enchanted stars Amy Adams and James Marsden will reprise their roles as Giselle and Prince Edward. The original story centered on Giselle, a fairy tale princess who is sent to the real world by an evil queen, where she meets and falls for a handsome lawyer (Patrick Dempsey). Enchanted earned over $340 million worldwide during its theatrical run in 2007.

J. David Stem and David N. Weiss have primarily written animated comedies such as Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Shrek 2, The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2, but they have also written live-action features such as Clockstoppers, Are We There Yet? and Daddy Day Camp.
