Canadian actor Brendan Meyer has joined the cast of Ender's Game for Summit Entertainment and director Gavin Hood.

The 17-year-old actor will portray Stilson, who torments Asa Butterfield's title character during grade school. The story is set in a world where the government trains gifted youngsters to help prevent an imminent alien attack. Hailee Steinfeld and Ben Kingsley are currently in negotiations to join the sci-fi project.

Gavin Hood is directing Ender's Game from his own screenplay, which is adapted from the Orson Scott Card novel of the same name. Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are producing alongside Gigi Pritzker, Linda McDonough, Lynn Hendee, Robert Chartoff, and Orson Scott Card.

Production is scheduled to begin in early 2012, with a March 15, 2013 release date already set.
