Sad news to report for horror fans today. According to Evil Dead reboot star Jane Levy, the sequel Evil Dead 2 may never happen. At least, not anytime soon.

Even before last year's well received Evil Dead remake hit theaters, director Fede Alvarez claimed that Evil Dead 2 was on the fast track. Around this same time, director of the original 1981 The Evil Dead, Sam Raimi claimed he was making his own franchise sequel titled Army of Darkness 2, a follow up to the third installment, 1993's Army Of Darkness. The end of the Evil Dead remake even set up a future clash between cult icon Bruce Campbell as Ash, and new horror heroine Mia, played by Jane Levy.

But in a shocking twist, Sam Raimi announced at this year's Comic-Con that he and his brother Ted Raimi are developing an Evil Dead TV series, with Bruce Campbell to star. According to Jane Levy, this new incarnation of the franchise may be replacing any of the upcoming sequels that were previously planned. Though she doesn't know that for a fact.

Speaking with Arrow in the Head, Jane Levy shared these thoughts on why she thinks Evil Dead 2 will never happen.

"I don't think they're gonna make it. I mean, they're always coming up with a new thing- now I hear they're making a TV show. I was like, what? [Laughs] I think they just like exciting their fans and confusing them. I honestly don't know, but it doesn't seem like there's going to be an Evil Dead 2 anytime soon. At least, not with me in it."

It is possible that Evil Dead 2 is still being planned, just without Mia as the lead character. Its also possible that Mia and Ash could have their ultimate showdown on the small screen, but it remains to be seen if Jane Levy is up for reprising Mia solely for TV. We'll have to wait and see.
