Fans of the Harry Potter universe have a whole lot to look forward to in the near (ish) future. Not only is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them getting ready to drop in theaters, but Warner Bros. is planning as many as five movies in the franchise, assuming the first one does well. It is very hard to imagine that it won't, so now the question becomes, when will we see those sequels? According to producer David Heyman, about every two years.

The producer, who has worked a ton on the previous Harry Potter movies as well as Fantastic Beasts, was recently interviewed by CinemaBlend. During the course of the interview, he was asked about the sequelsand how they are planning to tackle them. Here is what he had to say.

"Yep, every two years. Well, let's see. Let's hope people come to this one. If they come to this one we'll make the next one. That's quite an intense schedule every two years. So I'm hoping that it'll be every two years, but if it bleeds into two and a half years so be it."

Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling is making her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so this movie is about as authentic as can be. Originally, Warner Bros. had plans for a trilogy, but last month J.K. Rowling revealed that they have plans for as many as five movies. Prior to that announcement, months before the first movie's release, the studio announced that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 would be released on November 16, 2018. That would definitely be in keeping with the timeline that David Heyman laid out. He did mention that it could go every two and a half years, but it seems like Warner Bros. would probably want to stick to that November released date instead of competing with a bunch of massive tentpole summer blockbusters.

The producer also revealed in the interview that production on Fantastic Beasts 2 is set to begin in July or August of next year, with David Yates once again set to direct. It was also revealed recently by Yates himself that the sequel will feature a young Dumbledore. At the moment, an actor hasn't been cast in the role, but they are looking now. So it seems like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 will have even more connective tissue to the Harry Potter world that fans are more familiar with. This release schedule does mean that whoever signs on to play Dumbledore, and actors like Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, will be in this for a long haul, which could get tricky with scheduling.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes place in New York in 1926 and follows Newt Scamander as he tries to round up a bunch of magical creatures who manage to get loose in the city. It is based on the book written by the textbook fictional character Newt Scamander. In addition to Eddie Redmayne, the cast includes Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters on November 18 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 set for release on November 16, 2018.
