The cast of Warner Bros.' Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them keeps growing and growing. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Colin Farrell has joined the Harry Potter prequel, which takes place years before the boy wizard was born. The Irish actor will star alongside Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol and the most recent addition, Dan Fogler.

The story takes place 70 years before the Harry Potter books and movies, centering on a magizoologist named Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he sets out to chronicle the history and locations of several magical creatures. Colin Farrell is set to play Graves, a wizard who encounters Scamander in New York City. It isn't known quite yet how many more main characters are left to be cast.

Katherine Waterston is portraying the female lead Tina, with Ezra Miller portraying the magical Kredan and Alison Sudol playing Tina's younger sister Queenie. In the Harry Potter movies, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an actual textbook, written by Scamander, which Harry and his classmates use in their studies at Hogwarts. Warner Bros. has set a November 18, 2016 release date for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but it still isn't known when production will begin.

David Yates is directing from a screenplay by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who makes her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Steve Kloves, who wrote the screenplays for seven of the eight Harry Potter movies, is producing with Lionel Wigram and David Heyman. This prequel is said to be the first in a new trilogy set within the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Colin Farrell currently stars in Season 2 of HBO's True Detective, which premiered this past June. On the big screen, he will next be seen in The Lobster, which had its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize. The actor also has Solace starring Anthony Hopkins arriving later this year.
