The Returned star Sandrine Holt has signed on to star in AMC's The Walking Dead spinoff Fear the Walking Dead. The actress will have a recurring role in the series, playing Dr. Bethany Exner, who is described as a "confident and skilled doctor." It isn't clear at this point how many episodes she will appear in during the first season quite yet.

Fear the Walking Dead is set in Los Angeles and follows a group of survivors at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. The cast includes Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Alycia Debnam Carey, Frank Dillane, Mercedes Masöhn, Rubén Blades and Elizabeth Rodriguez. The first season will be six episodes long, debuting on AMC later this summer.

The Walking Dead comic book creator Robert Kirkman co-created the series with Dave Erickson, who will serve as showrunner. AMC has already renewed the show for a second season, which will debut in the summer of 2016 and will likely span 13 episodes. It remains to be seen if the spinoff show will split their full seasons in half like The Walking Dead does every year. Sandrine Holt currently stars in The Returned, and she will next be seen on the big screen this summer in Paramount's Terminator Genisys, arriving in theaters July 1.
