It's almost time! AMC is getting ready to launch its first spinoff from their blockbuster hit horror series The Walking Dead! Things kick off this Sunday with the Pilot episode of Fear the Walking Dead. But if you can't wait a couple more days, the network has released the first intense moments. This sneak peek features Frank Dillane as Nick Clark, who awakens in what appears to be a drug den. He slowly comes too, realizing things aren't right with this situation. He stumbles about in a gait reminiscent of a Walker. Is this foreshadowing? The house he finds himself in is big, and empty and has been left in shambles. He hears screaming, but continues his journey. Soon, he discovers a blood-covered man with his throat ripped out. He calls out for a Gloria, but she is nowhere to be seen. And then...
You are not going to want to miss what happens next. And it's possible that this quick clip introduces us to The Walking Dead's first zombie! But where did she come from? Why is she like this? And why does she suddenly have a taste for human flesh? A second featurette explores the personalities and introduces the characters of Fear the Walking Dead. And it's hard to tell who will leave, who will die, and which of these individuals is going to make it to Fear the Walking Dead Season 2.
Living in the same universe as http://movieweb.com/walking-dead-season-6-trailer/The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.
Kim Dickens and Cliff Curtis star in Fear the Walking Dead as Madison Clark and Travis Manawa, a high school guidance counselor and a teacher who are also in a romantic relationship, bringing both of their families together. Their children Nick Clark, Alicia Clark and Chris Manawa are played by Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam Carey and Lorenzo James Henrie. Elizabeth Rodriguez stars as Chris's mother and Travis' ex-wife Liza Ortiz. The Salazar family, father Daniel, mother Griselda and daughter Ofelia, are played by Rubén Blades, Patricia Reyes Spíndola (Frida) and Mercedes Masöhn.
Unlike The Walking Dead, where zombies have been decomposing for years, Fear the Walking Dead takes place right at the start of the zombie apocalypse, which means these walkers will look much more human than their counterparts on The Walking Dead. These Los Angeles residents also don't know exactly what they're dealing with at first, and don't know what to do when confronted by these flesh-eating monsters. We have a feeling they'll find out how to survive very quickly in this six-episode first season.
AMC has already confirmed that Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 will span 15 episodes, but it isn't known yet if the network plans on splitting the second season into two halves, like they do with The Walking Dead. While we wait for more details on Fear the Walking Dead, check out this new preview for more insight into the series. Do you think this show will be as big of a hit as the original?
