Back in February, we reported that fans of the comedy classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off will be able to gather in Chicago to celebrate its 30th Anniversary with Ferris Fest. The event will take place in Lake Forrest, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois from Friday, May 20 to Sunday, May 22. The initial announcement revealed that a number of cast members have already been confirmed to attend Ferris Fest, such as Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward, who played Ferris' parents, along with Jonathan Schmock, the snobby French restaurant maitre d'. Since then, others such as Edie McClurg (Grace) and Larry Flash Jenkins, the garage attendant who "borrows" the Ferrari, have been confirmed to attend. Today Ferris Fest has released the first promo, which recreates a beloved scene from the movie, with Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward talking about the celebration.

The scene in question is where Ferris' sister Jeannie (Jennifer Grey) answers the door at her house, only to be greeted by the "Get Well Gang," including an unconventional "nurse." Instead of Jeannie answering the door, it's Cindy Pickett and Lyman Ward, who reveal some of the events that will be taking place for the fans throughout Ferris Fest. Beyond the Marquee reveals the promo was shot at the actual Ferris Bueller house, which was one of the few locations shot in California, since most of the scenes were shot in Lake Forrest, Illinois and Chicago. As you can see in the video, the Long Beach, California house hasn't changed a bit, and they still have the same doorbell and knocker intact from 30 years ago.

Ferris Fest will include a special screening of Ferris Bueller's Day Off on Saturday, May 21 at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater located in Lake Forest, Illinois with stars from the film for a special 30th anniversary Q&A. Noted Chicago film critic Richard Roeper will be hosting the screening, with guests Cindy Pickett, Lyman Ward (Ferris Bueller's parents) and Jonathan Schmock (French restaurant maitre d') in attendance. The event organizers are currently in talks with more stars and production members from Ferris Bueller's Day Off to join the event.

The weekend event will also include a live re-creation of Ferris' (Matthew Broderick) epic rendition of "Twist and Shout" during the parade sequence, along with a two-day bus tour of the iconic comedy movie's filming locations. The tour will feature Cameron's (Alan Ruck) house, the Glenbrook North High School and parking lot, where Ferris picks up Sloan (Mia Sara), pretending to be her father, The Art Institute of Chicago, Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), Wrigley Field and more. The tour will also include locations from John Hughes' classics The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles, which were also filmed in the area.

There will also be a re-creation of Ferris' room, designed by artists Sarah Keenlyside and Joe Clement. This incredibly precise re-creation of Ferris Bueller's room recently premiered at a special event at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, and it will be on display for all attendees to step inside for an immersive 360-degree experience.
