Anthony Hopkins watches as Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Abbie Cornish draw their guns on a suspect in the first photo for Solace. Afonso Poyart directs this indie thriller, which is wrapping principal photography in Atlanta this week, about a retired crime analyst with psychic abilities who is brought in to help the FBI catch a killer (Colin Farrell). Take a look at the photo, then read on to see what director Afonso Poyart had to say about the story.
The script was co-written by some of Hollywood's biggest writers, with Ted Griffin (Ocean's Eleven), James Vanderbilt (White House Down), and Disney production president Sean Bailey sharing a screenplay credit, and Peter Morgan (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) polishing the most recent draft. Afonso Poyart revealed that he was drawn to the balance of the story and the characters.
"This film has the perfect balance of structure, story and strong characters. I was particularly attracted to the opportunity to explore the cinematic potential of the script and to step into the mind's eye of someone with psychic abilities, played by Anthony Hopkins, and visualize what he sees. Working with Tony, Jeff, Abbie and Colin has been a dream, and I couldn't ask for a better crew to bring it all together."
