Jason Sudeikis is in negotiations to star in an upcoming reboot of Fletch entitled Fletch Won. The film will be a potential launching pad for a comedy franchise centered around the character first played by Chevy Chase.

Based on a series of Gregory McDonald mystery novels, the story follows an investigative reporter named I. M. Fletcher. While staying on a beach watching the drug culture for a story, a millionaire businessman named Alan Stanwyk approaches Fletch and contracts him to murder him. The man tells the reporter that he is dying of bone cancer and wants to avoid a slow, painful death. After accepting $1000 to entertain the idea, the man offer him $20,000 to fulfill the task. Fletch talks him up to $50,000 to test and see if the millionaire is serious. Fletch then begins investigating the man's story in between investigating the drug story on the beach and avoiding the two attorneys after him for alimony for each of his ex-wives.

The first book was published back in 1974 and saw 11 follow up novels.

This project will be an origin story being described as a gritty action comedy. David List is writing the reboot and is also producing alongside Steve Golin and Michael Sugar. A director is currently being saught. No producing or additional casting details have been revealed.
