After months of waiting for a definitive answer, we now have one. The beloved character of Michelle Tanner will not be making an appearance on the new Netflix Full House reunion series. Former co-star Lori Loughlin, who will reprise her role as Aunt Becky in Fuller House, confirmed the news with The Huffington Post

Episodes of Fuller House have already taped in front of a live studio audience. And the half hour comedy will debut sometime in 2016 on the streaming service. But it will be without, arguably, the original show's most popular set of twins. While they were offered a chance to return, both Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen declined to participate. Perhaps it's because they would have had to share the role once again, something they haven't done since leaving the show in the 90s.

The pair portrayed the youngest member of the Tanner family for 8 seasons, and even built a multi-billion dollar business off their popularity on the show. But they aren't looking to pay back any favors. At least not during Fuller House Season 1. And it sounds like they aren't going to come back if the show gets renewed for more episodes, either. About their return, Lori Loughlin explained that all of the episodes have already been completed.

"We're wrapped and they didn't come in. I don't think they're going to make a cameo [in future seasons]. They didn't this season."

Executive producer Robert L. Boyett believed he'd be able to convince the girls to return when the new episodes were first announced. And even as the production began to move forward, with tapings taking place, he remained optimistic. Back in July, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos claimed that the twins were teetering on a possible return. But alas, it wasn't meant to be. Even if that news makes you a bit sad, we do know of one beloved character making a return.

The original Tanner family home has been rebuilt on the Warner Bros. studio lot. D.J. is moving back into her old house along with her two sons. And she is joined by Stephanie and Kimmy and their respective children. Also making a comeback on the show will be John Stamos as Uncle Jesse, Dave Coulier as Cousin Joey, Bob Saget as Danny Tanner and Lori Loughlin as Aunt Becky. The show is lead by original stars Candace Cameron Bure as DJ alongside Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber as Stephanie and Kimmy.

Fuller House is getting 13 episodes, but the speculation is that it will be renewed for future seasons. Possibly even before it debuts. While the show will tackle some heavier issues than its predecessor, you can still expect a show the entire family can enjoy. It's possible that we'll get the first trailer sometime in December, bringing fans everywhere an early Christmas present.
