Now that G.I. Joe Retaliation director Jon M. Chu has been confirmed to direct G.I. Joe 3, Paramount has brought on Snow White and the Huntsman writer Evan Daugherty to pen the script.

The writer also performed a last-minute rewrite on Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which impressed studio executives enough to land him this writing gig. No story details have been revealed, but Paramount put the sequel in development this April, just after G.I. Joe Retaliation took in $41 million during its opening weekend. G.I. Joe Retaliation earned $371 million worldwide, outperforming the 2009 original G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which grossed $309 million worldwide.

No cast members have been confirmed for G.I. Joe 3, but it is believed that G.I. Joe Retaliation stars Dwayne Johnson, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park and Bruce Willis will return.

Evan Daugherty's other writing credits include Killing Season and Summit's upcoming young adult adaptation Divergent.
