Poor Charlie. He died a gruesome death in front of the entire school when a malfunction stage prop hung him during a live staging of the play The Gallows. Twenty years after this gruesome incident, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy. But they find out that some things are better left alone.

When the new lead actor gets a bad case of stage fright, he and his friends decide to prevent the show from happening and break into the high school the night before the performance to sabotage the set.
