Back in December, HBO released the first trailer for Season 6 of Game of Thrones, although it didn't feature as much footage as most fans would like. Last month, the cable network finally confirmed that the season will debut on Sunday, April 24, and while it isn't known when we'll get the next trailer, HBO debuted over 20 new photos from the highly-anticipated season, which gives us our first look at a number of returning characters. They also reveal the fate of a few characters left ambiguous at the end of Season 5. If you aren't fully caught up with the series yet, there will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

Before we get into the potential spoilers, it's worth noting that none of these images feature Kit Harington's Jon Snow, who was brutally killed at the end of Season 5 by his Night's Watch brothers. His fate has been the subject of much debate, with Kit Harington himself and several other cast members revealing Snow is in fact dead. However, Maisie Williams teased last month that there's a twist involving his death, but we'll have to wait and see how this story unfolds in April. Speaking of Maisie Williams, she is featured in one of these photos, which confirms that she is still blind, after her sight was taken from her by Jaquen H'gar (Tom Wlaschiha) in the Season 5 finale.

The photos also give us a new look at Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who returns as Bran Stark and is seen alongside his new mentor, the Three-Eyed Raven (Max von Sydow). Bran is seen standing in this photo, which likely means this scene portrays one of Bran's greensight visions, since, when we saw him last, he was unable to stand or walk. We also get our first look at Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), Theon Greyjoy's (Alfie Allen) sister, who hasn't been seen since the Season 4 episode The Laws of Gods and Men.

These photos also confirm that Theon and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) survived, after jumping off the high walls of Winterfell in the Season 5 finale, making their escape from the treacherous Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). We still don't know where exactly they're going, but since there's still snow on the ground, it's possible that they could be journeying north, towards The Wall and possibly beyond. Now that Bran is back on the show, it remains to be seen if he will ever get to reunite with his sister Sansa.

We also get our first look at Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) and Gilly (Hannah Murray), who left The Wall so Samwell could study to be a maester. He left just before the death of Jon Snow, though, so we'll have to wait and see if his plans will change after his former Night's Watch brothers killed his friend. These photos also confirm that Myrcella Baratheon (Nell Tiger Free) died after being poisoned in Dorne in the finale, with Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) looking at her covered corpse. Perhaps one of the most intriguing photos, though, shows Jamie and his sister Cersei (Lena Headey), after he has returned to King's Landing, following her humiliating "walk of shame" at the end of last season.
