After deciding on Jason Clarke to play John Connor last week, Paramount Pictures has cast Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis.

The Game of Thrones star beat out Brie Larson, who we reported last week was the other top contender for this coveted role. No story details have been revealed yet, although the story reportedly involves a trip to the future. However, since the 24-year-old Emilia Clarke is playing the mother to a 44-year-old Jason Clarke, it's possible that John could go back in time to save his mother.

The production is also seeking an actor to play Kyle Reese, John Connor's father who was portrayed by Michael Biehn in The Terminator. It isn't known if any other characters from the original franchise will be brought back.

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), who worked with Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones, is directing from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. Megan Ellison and David Ellison are producing, although it isn't known when production may begin.

Emilia Clarke is best known for her breakout role as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones. She also stars in the upcoming comedy Dom Hemingway, which is set for release in April.
