Gerard Butler is in talks to star in Motor City for Warner Bros., in a role which both Dominic Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal were once attached to.

Back in September, Dominic Cooper signed on to play an ex-con who goes on a quest for vengeance against the men who framed him and sent him to prison. Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to replace him earlier this month, but bowed out just one day later, due to scheduling conflicts. Gary Oldman is set to play the villain, while Amber Heard is locked in as the female lead.

Albert Hughes is directing Motor City from a screenplay by Chad St. John, which was featured on the 2009 Black List. Production is scheduled to begin in June. However, there may be another scheduling snafu on the horizon, since we reported earlier this month that Gerard Butler signed on to star in Brilliant, which starts production right around the same time. That report indicated Brilliant was still seeking a female lead, so it is possible that shooting may be pushed back.
