Those excited to see Scarlett Johansson do a sweet action movie outside of the Marvel Universe are in luck, because Ghost In The Shell is coming out next year. Paramount Pictures has just released a little more footage from the movie, showcasing the first bit of her actually doing some butt kicking. Sadly, it really is just a very little bit of footage, but an encouraging bit of footage at that.

This new teaser, which clocks in at a very brisk 13 seconds, landed on the Paramount YouTube Channel recently. The footage shows Scarlett Johansson beating up a guy in an invisible cloak of sorts. Also, pretty much the entire thing was done in slow motion so it looks pretty intense. This is the only footage we have seen from Ghost In The Shell outside of the 5, very brief, separate teasers the studio released a couple of months ago. But now it appears that a full trailer is on the way.

Not only did the teaser include some new footage, but it also ended with the date "11/13." That would seem to imply that a full Ghost In The Shell trailer will be arriving that day. Hopefully, the trailer is good enough to help make up for the fact that many people are very upset with this movie. Scarlett Johansson is playing the character Kusanagi in the movie, which is a casting choice that had many people very upset, as the character is supposed to be Asian. Paramount came under heavy fire for the choice and was accused of whitewashing. Things only got worse when it was reported that the studio had been experimenting with technology to make Johansson look more Asian.

The Ghost In The Shell movie is based on the very popular manga of the same name. The story follows Kusanagi (Johansson), a cyborg that is a part of an elite cybercrime-fighting task force known as Section 9. The series was originally published in 1989 and was written by Masamune Shirow. It is generally considered to be one of the best manga series ever published. That being the case, other adaptations of Ghost in the Shell have come before, with an animated series, spin-off books and even a video game.

Ghost in the Shell is being directed by Snow White and the Huntsman helmer Rupert Sanders with a script written by Jonathan Herman and Jamie Moss. In addition to Scarlett Johansson, the cast includes Rila Fukushima, Michael Pitt, Peter Ferdinando and Juliette Binoche. Ghost In The Shell is currently set for an April 14, 2017, release date. Be sure to check out the new teaser for yourself below and be on the lookout for the full Ghost In The Shell trailer on Sunday.
