A couple of young newcomers are the latest to join the cast of Ghostbusters 3, aka Ghostbusters 2020. Both Celeste O'Connor and Logan Kim have officially boarded the growing ensemble for the highly-anticipated sequel in currently unspecified roles. Filming on the movie is expected to get underway this summer.

According to a new report, Celeste O'Connor and Logan Kim have signed on for the movie, but it's not yet been confirmed how they'll factor in. They join a cast that already includes Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame) and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers). The younger cast includes Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home). Director Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, had this to say about the casting in a brief statement.

"Celeste and Logan are rare talents and we're all grateful that they'll be lending their unique voices to 'GB20.'"

Plot details for Ghostbusters 2020 are being kept under wraps, but it's said that the movie will center on a family, with Carrie Coon playing the mom and Finn Wolfhard playing her son. It's been previously reported that the action will revolve around a new group of young characters who take up the ghost busting mantle. It's possible that Celeste O'Connor and Logan Kim could fill a couple of those roles. O'Connor recently starred in Selah and the Spades, which debuted at Sundance, as well as Netflix's Irreplaceable You. Logan Kim's only other credit is for 2015's The Dog Who Saved Summer.

Unlike Paul Feig's female-led reboot, which was released in 2016, this will tie in directly to the original two movies. It's expected that original cast members Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson are all going to return in some capacity. Sigourney Weaver has also stated she will be back and Annie Potts is also likely to return as Janine Melnitz. Though, Hudson did recently reveal that he hasn't yet closed his deal, but there's still plenty of time to get that all straightened out.

We first learned of this project back in January when it was announced as something of a surprise. Jason Reitman even directed a teaser trailer that was released online to help demonstrate how serious he and Sony were about making this movie happen. Since then, the pieces have been sliding into place and filming is expected to begin very soon. The movie will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con next week, which is where we'll likely learn a lot more about what to expect ahead of production.

Paul Feig expressed his desire to do a sequel to his rebooted version of the franchise. However, the first movie served as a financial disaster and paved the way for this instead. Jason Reitman co-wrote the screenplay alongside Gil Kenan. We'll be sure to keep you posted as any further details on the project are made available. Ghostbusters 2020 is set to arrive in theaters on July 10, 2020. This news was first reported by Variety.
