In late February, it seemed that Dan Aykroyd had thrown in the towel in terms of getting Bill Murray to return for Ghostbusters 3. He was quoted as saying that the actor would not return, and that was the final verdict.
"At this point it's in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie."
Now, the great back-and-forth continues!
Bill Murray was on local Chicago news station WGN yesterday, talking baseball at Cubs Park. He was asked about the ever-lingering sequel, and his definitive answer was not "No" as was expect. Instead, he offered a bit of hope.
"It's a possibility."
The comedy icon then went onto hype up his latest movie Moonrise Kingdom, calling it "really, really funny." Click on the interview, his comments about Ghostbusters 3 come at the 2:48 mark.
If Ivan Reitman really wants to get Ghostbusters 3 made with Bill Murray, he needs to take a page out of the DVD commentary for his own comedy Meatballs: Start shooting it and he'll just show up!
