The main Ghostbusters cast has been officially announced by director Paul Feig on his Twitter account. Ghostbusters will be led by his Bridesmaids co-stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy along with current Saturday Night Live cast mates Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

Paul Feig has revealed in previous interviews that this new version of Ghostbusters will be a complete reboot of the supernatural comedy. It will be a lot scarier than the original, and will not maintain any continuity with the 1984 classic or it's sequel. While Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddmore do not exist in this world, cameos from Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver are not out of the question.

Ghostbusters will shoot shoot this summer in New York City. It has been rumored that there is one main male role to be cast in Ghostbusters. Ryan Gosling was said to be eyeing the role, but that may no longer be the case. It's possible that Paul Feig will keep the Saturday Night Live tradition going, as three of his leads are tied to the show, and the original had it's roots in the long running NBC skit series, by casting one of the current male members of the cast. What do you think of this line-up?
