Production got under way in Boston today for Sony's long-awaited Ghostbusters reboot, under the direction of Paul Feig. It didn't take long for set photos to surface, giving us our first look at Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon. Unfortunately, the stars are seen in their civilian attire, and not the new Ghostbusters uniforms. Now that production is under way, hopefully we'll get to see our first look at the official costumes soon. Perhaps at Comic-Con 2015?

Yesterday, plot rumors surfaced that Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy are playing characters who wrote a book together several years ago, claiming ghosts are real. In present day, Kristen Wiig, who is rumored to be named Erin Gabler, lands a prestigious job at Columbia University, but it doesn't last long before word of her book leaks out and she is laughed off campus. This causes her to team up with Melissa McCarthy's character, reportedly named Abby Bergman, who is now hunting ghosts for a living with her new partner Jillian, just before a slew of ghosts begin to terrorize New York.

At the time, it wasn't known if Kate McKinnon or Leslie Jones is playing Jillian, but judging from these new photos, it seems that Kate McKinnon has that role. That leaves Leslie Jones with the last major role, an MTA worker named Patty, who discovers the primary ghost in the reboot. Of course, none of these character details have been confirmed at this time, but we'll be sure to keep you posted with more information as production continues in Boston. In the meantime, check out the first photos of the new Ghostbusters on set.
