After starring in the superhero blockbuster Captain America: Civil War this summer, Chris Evans finds himself embroiled in a family drama in his next film, Gifted, which hits theaters this spring. Today we have the first trailer for this upcoming film, which shows how a talented young girl can drive a family apart. We also have the first poster, which shows Chris Evans alongside his young co-star, McKenna Grace.

Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy - his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) - in a coastal town in Florida. Frank's plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old's mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank's formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary's landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary's teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.

The supporting cast also includes Julie Ann Emery, Keir O'Donnell, Glenn Plummer and Joe Chrest. Fox Searchlight Pictures has set an April 12, 2017 release date for this upcoming drama, a Wednesday release which is currently all by itself. Its release date also comes just two days before the high-octane sequel Fast 8 hits theaters on April 14, 2017.

Marc Webb directs this drama from a script by Tom Flynn, which landed on the Black List in 2014 alongside other scripts that would eventually turn into movies such as The Shallows, Money Monster and the upcoming biopic The Founder. This project marks Marc Webb's return to his indie roots, after making his feature directorial debut with the critically-acclaimed 2009 indie 500 Days of Summer. He would go on to direct Sony's big-budget superhero movies The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

After Gifted hits theaters next year, Chris Evans will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Infinity War. The actor will return as Steve Rogers alongside every other MCU hero in this highly-anticipated adventure, which is slated for release on May 4, 2018. Take a look at the new trailer for Gifted before it hits theaters next spring.
