Gina Carano Joins Female ‘Expendables’ Project

Gina Carano joins the all-female Expendables projectHaywire star Gina Carano has become attached to an all-female version of The Expendables, currently known as the Untitled Adi Shankar Project.

We first reported on this project last month, with Adi Shankar producing and financing through his 1984 Private Defense Contractors company. Here's what he had to say about bringing the actress on board.

"I don't know how I'm supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of The Expendables without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba."

Little is known about the story, except that it will feature an all-female cast and is inspired by The Expendables franchise. No production schedule was released at this time.

Gina Carano will next be seen in The Fast and the Furious 6, alongside Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne Johnson.

Untitled Adi Shankar Project is in development .

It's good that this will be a B like movie. Making this part of the franchise would have been the murder of the franchise

@bawnian-dexeus Oh, I know... Now granted, I did not say I was against this! It's just at the moment I am worried it will just not be very good!

@mcleve02 Yeah, but the Bella character is the worst role model out there today

I like that Gina is in it, but I'm not sure if she should be the main lead, maybe it could be someone else who will take the lead and Gina will get a supporting role.

I am still very unsure how I feel about this... Why separate the sexes... I would rather see them become included in the Expendables films... The films are already fun cheesy, why not add some more!

They need Maggie Q in this film, not a newbie. To little experience and second of all I've never heard of this woman. She needs to make more films before making something like this.

Sigourney Weaver is a must... she set the bar. Michelle Yeoh, Angelina Jolie, Milla Jovovich, Linda Hamilton, Kate Beckinsale, Uma Thurman (Kill Bill is a favorite), Cynthia Rothrock, Pam Grier, Summer Glau, Carrie-Ann Moss, Katee Sackhoff, Lena Headey, Lindsay Wagner, Rhona Mitra (Doomday)... they have plenty to pick from.

This will be interesting, I'm curious to see who else will be casted in this. They should get Sigourney Weaver, Demi Moore, Milla Jovovich, Linda Hamilton, Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, Michelle Yu, and Zhang Ziyi. Of course Angelina Jolie would be a great addition, but she would probably be expensive.
