Season 2 of Fox's hit series Gotham will pick up where the Season 1 cliffhanger left off, with Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) discovering Thomas Wayne's secret lair. While we'll have to wait until the Season 2 premiere, "Damned If You Do", to find out more about what secrets await Bruce and Alfred, TV Insider has debuted a new photo showing these characters as they explore this secret area. Here's what David Mazouz had to say about how this discovery alters young Bruce's views on his father, stating that this hidden area is not the Batcave.

"It changes everything in Bruce's life. It changes how he sees Alfred, the criminal side of Gotham, even how he sees his parents. It's definitely not the Batcave. What is down there are clues to Thomas Wayne's secret life and what he was trying to do before being killed."

Since David Mazouz's Bruce Wayne is far too young to become Batman, it makes sense that this hidden underground area will not become the Batcave anytime soon. It is certainly possible, though, that Bruce will be influenced by his father's secretive ways as a youth, which will inspire what will eventually become the Batcave. Series creator Bruno Heller has already said that we won't see Bruce Wayne turn into Batman until the end of the series, but during an appearance at Wizard World Chicago over the weekend, series star Ben McKenzie clarified exactly when we will see Bruce Wayne transforming into The Dark Knight.

"The last frame of the last shot of the last scene of the last episode of Gotham, whatever season that may be, is Bruce putting on that cape."

Gotham Season 2 has already been dubbed "Rise of the Villains, with the GCPD squaring off against a number of new bad guys. Tabitha Galivan Tigress (Jessica Lucas) and her brother Theo Galivan (James Frain) will serve as the main antagonists this year, while Cameron Monaghan returns as The Joker. Fans will also be introduced to Natalie Alyn Lind as Silver St. Cloud, a potential new love interest for young Bruce Wayne and Michael Chiklis as Captain Nathanial Barnes, a new mentor and ally to Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie). Season 1 stars Morena Baccarin (Dr. Leslie Thompkins), Nicholas D'Agosto (Harvey Dent) and Chris Chalk have also been promoted to series regulars in Season 2, which premieres Monday, September 21 at 8 PM ET on Fox. While we wait for more details to come in, check out this new photo from Gotham.
