Earlier this month, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn shared the latest #WhatWeShotWednesday storyboard image, while revealing that there will be only two more left to go since shooting is about to wrap. These hand-drawn images have always been mysterious and cryptic, at best, offering fans some insight into scenes that they shot that particular Wednesday. Today, the director presents his final storyboard, while also announcing that several key cast members have already wrapped on the movie.

The filmmaker revealed the final storyboard on Twitter earlier today, revealing that he's grateful to have spent the last few years with these characters. As for the storyboard itself, the image features Peter Quill and Rocket, but there isn't much else we can glean from this image. With production wrapping up, hopefully we'll get to see the first photos or footage soon, perhaps at San Diego Comic Con next month.

Over the past few days, James Gunn has also announced that stars such as Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Glenn Close (Nova Prime) and Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) have wrapped on the sequel. He also added that Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Michael Rooker (Yondu) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) are still shooting. We'll be sure to keep you posted when principal photography fully wraps on Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

While no plot details have been released for this sequel yet, there have been plenty of rumors swirling around. Last month, an unconfirmed report revealed that the primary antagonist will actually be a female villain named Ayesha, who has also gone by Kismet, Paragon and Her in the Marvel Comics. This report claimed that new cast member Elizabeth Debicki is portraying this character, but it has never been confirmed who she is playing. Other new cast members include Kurt Russell, who has been rumored to be playing Star-Lord's dad, Chris Sullivan and Tommy Flanagan.

While we wait for more details on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we have assembled the tweets sent out by James Gunn over the past few days, including the announcements of several actors finishing work on the sequel, and the final #WhatWeShotWednesday storyboards. Marvel has set a May 5, 2017 release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but we'll have to wait and see when we'll get to see the first official photos and footage. In the meantime, take a look at James Gunn's tweets below.
