Back in June 2015, Guardians of the Galaxy star Benicio del Toro said he'd love to return as The Collector in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but at the time, he hadn't heard whether or not he was wanted for the sequel. In January, just weeks before filming began, the actor said he didn't think he'd be back, since the studio would have notified him by then. But he did express his desire to play the character sometime in the future. It seems he's getting his chance to reprise Taneleer Tivan once again, if new photos are to be believed.

New photos surfaced of Benicio del Toro in Los Angles, sporting the same white-haired wig he wore as The Collector in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. This report reveals he was spotted on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in Los Angeles, seen walking to his trailer between takes. We know that principal photography wrapped on the sequel last month, and this is the first we've heard about additional filming taking place in Los Angeles.

It's possible that director James Gunn brought the actor back to shoot a post credit scene for Guardians 2. You may recall fans got their first look at The Collector during a post credit scene in Thor: The Dark World, where Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexnder and Volstagg (Ray Stevenson) handed over the Aether to The Collector. The Aether has also been confirmed as the Reality Stone, one of six Infinity Stones that will come into play in Avengers: Infinity War.

Since The Collector holds one of these Stones, it's possible that this character will be involved in Avengers: Infinity War, or perhaps the actor got back into the white-haired wig for a post credit scene that helps set up this massive Marvel adventure. Since filming just wrapped on Guardians 2, it's unlikely that reshoots have been ordered this soon, so we'll have to wait and see if James Gunn or Marvel will offer any clarification on these recent photos.

There is another, much more reasonable possibility regarding why Benicio del Toro might be seen in The Collector's wig. Marvel announced at Comic-Con that Guardians of the Galaxy will be getting a new ride at Disney's California Adventure, opening next summer. The announcement revealed that this attraction will actually center on The Collector, who will open up his "collection" as part of a special tour for visitors, which will include the Guardians themselves as part of his collection. It's possible that he is also filming a scene for Thor: Ragnarok, which is currently in production, but filming on that sequel is taking place in Australia, not Los Angeles. While we wait for clarification on The Collector's return, take a look at these photos from the set below, and visit The Daily Mail for even more images.
