Back in November, months before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 started filming in Atlanta, writer-director James Gunn took to his Facebook page to shoot down a rumor about Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) dad, revealing that would be the last time he'd ever address a rumor about the sequel. While he has kept to his word about addressing rumors, that hasn't stopped the filmmaker from revealing photos from the set. Earlier today, the filmmaker took to his Twitter and Facebook pages to kick off a new social media initiative called #WhatWeShotWednesday, where he reveals one of his personal hand-drawn sketches from one of the scenes he recently shot. Take a look at what he had to say below to his Facebook followers.

"Recently I mentioned how I draw every single shot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before we ever shoot a frame. I'll spread whole scenes over my office floor or all around the walls, sometimes hundreds of shots, and it will give me an idea of how the scene flows, what's smooth, what's jumbled, and even what works comedically. Over the entire film I draw thousands of these thumbnails. Many of them are messy and it's impossible for anyone other than me to tell what they are. Some of them get turned over to accomplished storyboard artists to flesh out. Some of them go directly to our pre-visualization team to turn into animated storyboards. And others just stay in their primitive state. Many of you asked to see these drawings so I thought I'd start posting thumbnails of whatever it was we shot that day on ‪#‎GotGVol2‬. I'm not going to explain what the shot is - as I said, they're messy. But maybe you can match the thumbnail to the shot when the movie is released. So here's the first in the series of ‪#‎WhatWeShotWednesday‬ (that is, today). Can you guess what it might be?"

The first illustration features Groot holding some sort of creature, which appears to be squealing. Above the image we see the hand-written remarks "H/A time out," but we're not quite sure what this means, or what this creature may be. While we can expect new sketches like this every Wednesday as production continues, they'll likely be quite difficult to decipher, especially since Marvel hasn't released an official plot synopsis yet. It does bring up an interesting point regarding Groot, though.

When Guardians of the Galaxy 2 starting shooting in Atlanta last month, Marvel unveiled the first official photo that showed the silhouettes of all the main characters, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). At the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, we saw Baby Groot growing in a pot, dancing along to Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," while Drax polished his blades. The new photo from the sequel showed Baby Groot standing on Drax's shoulder, so it isn't known yet if Groot will grow to his full size in the sequel.

It's tough to tell from this sketch if this is Baby Groot or full-grown groot who is holding this creature. Regardless, this drawing is just the beginning, so be sure to check back every Wednesday to check out sketches from scenes that James Gunn just shot on the Atlanta set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Take a look at this sketch below, and let us know what you think it may mean below.
