Just a few months ago, production wrapped on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with director James Gunn and star Chris Pratt confirming their Comic-Con plans. The director and the rest of his cast showcased the first footage from this superhero sequel at the San Deigo event, revealing the movie's biggest mystery, that Kurt Russell plays Ego, the father of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. This footage also gave us a new look at Yondu, who's fin/mohawk got quite the upgrade, which fans can now see in a new photo.

As part of a new online initiative dubbed #MarvelPhotoChallenge, the studio posted a new photo of Yondu on Instagram, which shows the character in profile and reveals just how big his mowhawk has gotten. In the original Guardians of the Galaxy, Yondu had what looked like just the start of a metal mohawk, which was seen in a portrait that was on display at SDCC before the Marvel panel. While we don't know exactly why his mohawk is much bigger this time around, hopefully we'll find out when the first full trailer arrives. But it certainly is more inline with what we've seen in the comics.

The footage revealed that this sequel will take place just a few months after the original Guardians of the Galaxy. One scene features Yondu and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) escaping from a jail cell in what looks like a massive space station with the help of Baby Groot. The trailer also features plenty of scenes with all the main characters working together as a team, as they try to retrieve Yondu's fin, which allows him to control his mystical weapon known as the Yaka Arrow. Yondu takes out many of the Ravagers, the group he used to be the leader of, before joining the Guardians as a full-fledged member.

We're not sure what the connection between this head fin and the Yaka Arrow is quite yet, but perhaps we'll learn more as we get closer to the May 5, 2017 release date. Another mystery that needs to be solved, now that Star-Lord's father's identity has been revealed, is who Sylvester Stallone is playing. The actor was spotted in Atlanta, at the same hotel the Guardians 2 cast members were staying at, which sparked numerous rumors of his involvement. His casting was later confirmed at SDCC. Still, even though he's seen in the Comic-Con trailer, details regarding his identity remain unclear.

It was also confirmed at Comic-Con that there will be a new Guardians ride coming to Disney's California adventure, slated to open in the summer of 2017. With Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hitting theaters on May 5, 2017, it's possible that the opening will coincide with the sequel's release date, so stay tuned for more details. Until then, check out Yondu's bigger mohawk in a new photo from Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
