Though none of the footage has been released thus far, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 certainly left its stamp on Comic-Con over the weekend, as director James Gunn and his crew invaded Hall H. As they were introducing their cast, the notorious Ravagers hijacked the proceedings. Now, Gunn has released an official image of these scoundrels, revealing who they are. He also left a lengthy Facebook post, answering a few of the lingering questions that arose after this epic Hall H panel.

In the photo seen below, James Gunn introduces Taserface and the rest of the Ravagers as they will appear in this Marvel Phase 3 sequel. Starting from the top left and moving in a circle, these cruel and taunting bastards of space include Brahl (Stephen Blackehart), Oblo (Joe Fria), Scrote, Narblik (Terence Rosemore), Gef the Ravager (Steve Agee), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Wretch (Evan Jones), Half-Nut (Jimmy Urine), and their leader Taserface (Chris Sullivan) in the center. James Gunn went onto describe the events that happened Saturday night.

"Whoa! So we just got off stage at the San Diego Comi-Con showing not one, but THREE Guardians clips: 1) A piece from the film featuring Yondu, Rocket, baby Groot, and the Ravagers, 2) A behind-the-scenes featurette of me and the cast working on the forthcoming Guardians attraction at Disneyland, and 3) A special glimpse at a montage of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I thought I'd share with you guys what we shared with everyone there. If you don't want minor spoilers from the film, don't continue to read. I won't hold it against you, I swear."

James Gunn goes onto confirm that The Ravagers are a very big part of his sequel. The gang has had a very contentious relationship with Yondu after the events of the first movie. And it appears that Yondu has joined Star-Lord's team.

"We learn that they've had a somewhat contentious, even mutinous, relationship with Yondu since Vol. 1, due to the fact that Yondu let Peter Quill go without reprisal after not giving them the orb. The leader in all of these shenanigans is the incredibly-powerful yet incredibly ridiculously-named Taserface, played by Chris Sullivan (it's worth noting that four years ago when I was hired for the first Guardians film, I joked that I was going to make Taserface my villain. I suppose it's no longer a joke)."

Gunn then went onto confirm that Karen Gillan's Nebula has a very big role in this follow-up to the 2014 movie, which introduced the character. He reveals that Elizabeth Debicki is Ayesha, the golden High Priestess of a genetically-perfect people called the Sovereign. And that he went with Mantis' original look from the Marvel comics for his sequel. She was only briefly glimpsed in the Comic-Con footage. He goes onto say this about casting Sylvester Stallone.

"This was an amazing experience for me, considering I ran around in my backyard as a kid pretending I was Johnny Rambo. Working with Sly was one of the high points of shooting Vol. 2 for me. Who does he play? Well, I can't reveal that quite yet... but we do see him interacting with Yondu in the teaser."

In the teaser trailer shown to the Hall H crowd at Comic-Con, two classic songs were played. "Come a Little Bit Closer" by Jay and the Americans and "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac, though the director will not confirm that these are part of the Awesome Mix Vol. 2 soundtrack. Gunn then goes onto explain that more will be revealed about Kurt Russell's Ego The Living Planet and his role as Star-Lord's dad when the movie is released, making note that it's one of the reasons he wanted to make the sequel. He explains this.

"I don't want to give away too many answers at this time. But what Nova Prime said about Peter's father at the end of Vol. 1 is certainly true - he is something ancient and unknown. And, as we will discover, being a cosmic being, alone for eons, is perhaps even more lonely than being the universe's sole talking raccoon. I can't wait for you guys to see Kurt Russell bring this character to life onscreen. It has been a rapturous experience creating Ego with him. We have both pushed ourselves as far as we can go in making him real, and grounded, and emotionally centered."

Overall, Gunn seems quite ecstatic about the movie, and can't wait for fans to see it. Though quite a bit was revealed at Comic-Con, he claims that there are 'countless more surprises' as the release date nears. Some will be unveiled before the movie hits theaters while some are being saved for the movie itself. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be in theaters May 5, 2017. Will you be able to wait that long?
