Earlier today, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 producer Kevin Feige let it slip that the title of the sequel will be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, although he wouldn't confirm or deny the title later on in the interview. Shortly after that revelation, writer-director James Gunn confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the official title, revealing that some fans even guess it correctly after he posted the script's title page earlier this month. Here's what the director had to say on his Facebook page earlier today.

"Yes, the official title of the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I'm really happy about because God knows I've let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page. Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait. For Kevin to mess up. Haha. PS Ant-Man Premiere tonight and I am stoked!"

In related news, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn offered a few new details about the sequel at the Saturn Awards, revealing that the follow-up is a more "emotional movie," that will focus on "fathers."

"It's a more emotional movie. I think it's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters. We get to learn a lot about fathers in the second movie, and I think we focus a lot on that."

Of course, one of these fathers will be Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt), who has already been confirmed to be revealed in the sequel. All we know so far is that Star-Lord's father is not the same as the comics, J'son. He also talked about his inspiration for his comedic writing in the sequel.

"Making myself laugh while I'm writing. I think humor comes from when you make characters you fall in love with-when you create characters you fall in love with and imbue them with some sort of personality and you like to see them bounce off each other, and that conflict often, you know, ends up in having some sort of humor."

We know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will start shooting in either February or March of next year, with Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) all set to return.
