It's hard to think what Drax might have been like in Guardians of the Galaxy had Dave Bautista not accepted the role. The WWE Superstar so thoroughly owns the character that any other version would have paled in comparison. Drax so often steals the show that having anyone else assume the role seems implausible. But as many of you may remember, Jason Momoa, now heavily rumored to be Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, had the role tied up. It was his for the taking. But talks stalled when the actor reportedly asked for more money. Some even bashed Dave Bautista as being the bargain basement Drax before they saw why he was the right actor for the role.

Yesterday, artist Andy Park released an early look at the character of Drax, back when Jason Momoa was just moments away from signing on the dotted line. What would he have looked like shirtless in that body make-up and those tight pants? Take a look:

This version of Drax is very different from what eventually wound up on screen. Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are also two very different actors with different body types. This concept art matches the style of what we've previously seen from Andy Park in terms of his Gamora and Nebula concept art released earlier in the summer. The artist also gives us new pieces depicting a Nova Corps warrior and Rocket with his best friend Groot. Take a look:
