Before Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters last August, some box office prognosticators felt that this adventure featuring little-known Marvel characters could be the studio's first box office bomb. Not only were they proven wrong, as the cosmic space adventure took in over $774 million worldwide, but the soundtrack Awesome Mix Vol. 1 proved to be a surprise hit as well, selling over 1 million albums. While attending the red carpet premiere for Avengers: Age of Ultron, writer-director James Gunn revealed that he already has the songs picked out for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and he thinks the soundtrack will be better than the original.

"Originally, people kept asking me 'Don't you feel a lot of pressure to do the second movie,' and I didn't in general because we had our hands tied behind our back on the first one. But I had to introduce all those characters so it seems like doing the sequel is actually easier in that respect. But I did feel a little pressure with the soundtrack because so many people loved and we went platinum and all that other stuff. But I feel like the soundtrack on the second is better, so I'm excited about it."

We reported earlier this month that the writer-director has finished his story treatment, as he is about to start working on the actual script, before production begins this coming February in Atlanta. While he wouldn't offer any specifics regarding the plot, James Gunn said he is very excited about the story.

"I'm just about to start the screenplay so it's a heavy time. I'm going to lock myself away. I'm not going to see anybody. Going to become very very stinky. Going to eat a lot of crap food and not have much of a life for a little while, while I am working on the screenplay. But I am really excited about it and I feel really good about the story. It really is something unique, so I feel good about it."

One of the most memorable moments in Guardians of the Galaxy was the dancing Baby Groot sequence at the end, which was actually inspired by James Gunn's own dance moves. The filmmaker revealed that fans will see more of his dance moves in the sequel, but he wouldn't reveal which character will be dancing.

"I'm not going to say whose dance moves, but we're going to see one particular character's dance moves."

Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Vin Diesel (Groot) and Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon) will surely be back for the sequel, although no other characters have been confirmed at this time.
