Marvel Studios has a big slate of movies due out next year, but it may very well be James Gunn's sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy that has fans most excited. The movie was a massive surprise in terms of success in 2014, and we have been itching for more ever since. We finally got our wish, as Marvel and Gunn have unveiled the first footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Director James Gunn took to his Twitter account this morning to give fans a little surprise. It wasn't a full trailer, but we did finally get a look at some footage for Guardians of the Galax Vol. 2. The footage is around 90 seconds in length, and James Gunn promised that a full trailer is still on the way. A full-length trailer did debut to a room full of thousands of fans at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer. The director also took to his Facebook today to show this footage, which isn't an official trailer and more of a "sneak peak" as he called it.

"So the first Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer will be coming in not too long, but we know how thirsty you guys are for a glimpse - so we put together this special sneak peak at #GotGVol2 for you."

Prior to the event at Comic-Con, Entertainment Weekly revealed the first official piece of concept art for the movie, which gave us some of our first solid details about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It revealed that Groot was still going to be a baby in the movie, and that the team was going to be getting some unexpected new members in the form of Yondu and, if the art is to be believed, Nebula. Not only that, but the art also revealed our first look at Mantis, who will be joining the team and is being played by Pom Klementieff.

Most of the principal cast from the first Guardians of the Galaxy is returning, which includes Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket. The sequel has added a ton of new talent, including Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell and Elizabeth Debicki. As the concept art revealed, Karen Gillan is also returning as Nebula and Michael Rooker is coming back as Yondu.

Also, as an added bonus, Marvel revealed the very first poster for the movie today, which is very much in line with what fans have come to expect. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is being directed by James Gunn from a script he wrote himself, much like he did on the first movie. Be sure to watch the first sneak peak for the movie for yourself below. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for release on May 5, 2017.
