Marvel ended its epic Hall H presentation by bringing director James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt in via satellite to announce the July 28, 2017 release date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Chris Pratt broke the news by stating,

"How much trouble would I get in if I just told them GotG 2 was coming out?"

After the July 2017 date was announce, director James Gunn stated,

"It's time the kids take over the candy store."

This was followed by the Guardians of the Galaxy logo with a 2 scrawled over it. James Gunn was confirmed to direct the movie yesterday, and sent out the following tweet.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International 2014 Saturday night, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt and director James Gunn announced that a sequel to the film will hit theaters July 28, 2017.

Chris Pratt and James Gunn appeared on screen for the assembled crowd to share the news, and while Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't soar into theaters until this Friday, August 1, you can get your tickets now to see the motley space-faring crew's first adventure.
