Guillermo Del Toro Will Not Direct ‘Hellboy 3’ Says Mike Mignola

Guillermo del Toro will not direct Hellboy 3 If you are one of the many fans of Hellboy II: The Golden Army that have been patiently waiting for director Guillermo del Toro to return to this universe, you can forget it. Creator of the Hellboy comic book and franchise Mike Mignola claims that the director will never step behind the lens of a third chapter. In fact, Guillermo del Toro will most likely be dead before he finishes all the projects that stand in the way of a third Hellboy at this point in time.

This is what Mike Mignola had to say about the non-existent possibilities of another Hellboy sequel ever being directed by Guillermo del Toro.

"Last I heard he said he would not make it. Guillermo -- who I love -- in every interview there's a new story on what his next movie is and he honestly believes he's going to do all these things. But last I heard, he said 'I'm never gonna get back to Hellboy. I'm not surprised because he won't live long enough to do a tenth of the movies he's told me he's going to make. I can't imagine him making a Hellboy 3. He's very enthusiastic and says he's going to do all these things....ummm....he's cute [laughed]."

Guillermo del Toro's next movie will be Pacific Rim. It is not known at this point if another director will take over the Hellboy franchise, or if it is officially kaput.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army was released July 11th, 2008.

Hellboy was released April 2nd, 2004.

Del Toro was the only reason to watch these films. without him, it will lose its edge.

Alfonso Cuaron might be a good choice to do a third film, assuming Del Toro doesn't go back, but as I said I wouldn't count him out. Even if he doesn't direct, there's a good chance he would act as producer, as this franchise was kind of his baby to begin with.

well at least he gave us a nice asthetic and format that is a good jump off point for many other talented directors. I loved his Hellboys tho and this is sad news. Not surprising, but sad all the same.

LOL. Yes, I was too upset to even finish it off. I simply left it where it was. :D

I think thats a bit harsh for him to say. I've enjoyed the universe emensely because its so far out there. His designs are like nothing that has ever been seen on film. He's a true auteur. If he doesn't come back to Hellboy perhaps its for the best. Still one can look at the girth of the man and see that it won't be long before he kills himself if he doesn't get in shape. Of course the same could be said of me. Yet I'm still rather savelt. Just saying.

@shuabert So I've heard. I've had the intention to watch it for quite some time, just haven't had a clear spot in my schedule.

@movie-nut Golden Army is great. Better than the first, IMO.

@ejk1 I was also surprised that @thaphoenix didn't pack his martini!

Back on topic, this isn't affecting me as much as others, but that's probably because I haven't seen Golden Army yet.

Wow. I can't believe this. I never thought it would happen. Hell, I'm willing to bet that no one saw this coming. I mean, who would've thought that @thaphoenix would get so upset, that he couldn't sip his martini? I for one, am flummoxed :P

As for this news, I'm with @shuabert especially in regards to his second sentence. Hell, I didn't care that much for the sequel, but the moment in Witches Lair made me amped up for the third film. Not doing it would be a waste.

@thehost91 - Why? Because I have an opinion like everyone else? Oh, I get it, you are still crying over yesterday......bahaha. What a child!!

                                        F*ck off, douche.

The hell with that. He clearly intended to do a trilogy or he wouldn't have set up so many seeds for it in the first two films. I sincerely hope he does finish off the series with a final film, because his style and tone are perfect for this character.
