Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows director Guy Ritchie is attached to direct Treasure Island for Warner Bros. and producers Lionel Wigram and Kevin McCormick.

We first reported on this project back in April 2010, just months after U.K.-based Eccosse Films announced their own adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel. We still haven't heard anything further about Eccosse's Treasure Island.

Alex Harakis will write the script, with Lionel Wigram and Kevin McCormick producing under their Langley Park production banner.

Michael Gilio wrote the first draft of the project, which was described as a contemporary adaptation of the 19th Century pirate novel. The story centers on narrator Jim Hawkins and his adventures with the pirate Long John Silver. No production schedule was released for this high seas adventure.
