At the official Hawkeye press conference, actress Hailee Steinfeld talked about her exciting new journey as Kate Bishop, the protege to Clint Barton. The newest addition to Marvel's Avengers, her depiction as Kate Bishop has already been turning heads, as fans have wanted to see this character brought to life for so long.

Here is what Hailee Steinfeld had to say about her role as the young archer.

I really do feel like playing this character sort of forced me to find a confidence and a determination and discipline that’s always been inside of me, but I really had to bring it out of myself for this, to do this character justice... I feel so lucky to be playing a character that is so loved by so many and that people have been waiting for some time to see brought to life."

Kate Bishop has been one of the fan-favorite Marvel characters since her appearance in Young Avengers #1, created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung. However, the character reached the zenith of her popularity with Matt Fraction and David Aja’s 2012 run of Hawkeye, starting with Vol 1: My Life as a Weapon.

The character of Kate Bishop in MCU's Disney+ series Hawkeye is heavily inspired by the one depicted in Fraction and Aja’s Hawkeye, as opposed to the Young Avengers version.

The Hawkeye Disney+ series juxtaposes a grumpy Clint Barton with this exceptionally skilled young archer, who in turn softens him up over time. Hailee Steinfeld has been doing quite a great job so far as the cool, quick-witted Young Avenger, offering some rather hilarious moments as well.

Actor Jeremy Renner, by now known for his role as the original Hawkeye, had this to say about Hailee and her character:

Kate sees Clint as someone, despite his past, as someone who wants to do good and wants to help people, and that’s all she wants to do in life. She’s inspired by him and motivated by him and wants to be at his level and is very over-eager, and he puts up with a lot.

Hailee came in ready to rock… I just wanted to communicate with her that I had her back, and that there’s gonna be a lotta strange things that go on. You know, it’s different than other types of filmmaking... It was very fun figuring out the evolution of this dynamic in this relationship, and I think, ultimately, there’s a really true friendship there and an understanding.

Hawkeye deals with the events following that of Avengers: Endgame, and shows how a rather dark and aging Clint Barton take in a young archer like Kate Bishop under his wing, almost in a 'Logan'-esque fashion. Overall, Hawkeye promises a rather exciting journey.
