It seems the Coen Brothers have found the important young lady for their upcoming Western remake. According to Variety, Hailee Steinfeld has been cast in True Grit.

Steinfeld will play 14-year-old Mattie Ross, a young girl who seeks out to find the man who killed her father before a Texas Ranger finds him. Steinfeld will star alongside Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. The original 1968 John Wayne film was told more from Wayne's perspective as one of the lawmen, while the Coen Brothers film will focus more on Steinfeld's character. Both films are based on the novel by Charles Portis.

Filming is set to begin filming next month in New Mexico, with a release date already slated for December 25.
