Warner Bros. has handed out a November 18, 2016 release date for the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The project currently has the release date all to itself, arriving two weeks after 20th Century Fox's Trolls on November 4, 2016 and five days before an untitled Disney Animation project.

We first reported on the spin-off back in September, which J.K. Rowling is writing the screenplay for, based off the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook used at Hogwarts in her books and movies. The story follows fictitious author Newt Salamander and his adventures in New York City, 70 years before Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts. The project will also spawn a number of games and multi-media projects, and we reported in March that this will be the first in a planned trilogy.

No director has been attached at this time, and it isn't known if J.K. Rowling has completed the script yet.
