We reported back in April that actor Josh Hutcherson was a new candidate to portray Sony's rebooted web slinger and now some new information has come forward. CinemaBlend spoke to the young actor today, who was promoting his new film The Kids Are All Right, and he confirmed that he has auditioned for the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, although he didn't have any further updates as of yet.

Meanwhile, Blue Sky Disney is reporting that not only did Hutcherson audition for the film, but Sony made him an offer to star as the new Peter Parker, which he reportedly had accepted.

It's possible that Hutcherson's deal is still being worked out and they don't want to reveal anything until everything is signed, but it is also possible that Sony just hasn't made a decision on who will play Spidey as of yet. CinemaBlend also reported that Hutcherson will start filming Journey to the Mysterious Island, the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth, this fall, which could lead to a scheduling conflict with the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot if he does sign on.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further details regarding Josh Hutcherson and the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot as soon as we have more information.
