Hellboy 3 has entered the same pantheon as Ghostbusters 3 and Bill & Ted 3. We often hear about these movies, but its not likely that we will see any of them soon. That said, actor Jeffrey Tambor, who plays Tom Manning, director of the B.P.R.D. and Hellboy's boss, recently revealed that Hellboy 3 may actually be happening.

It certainly sounds like the sequel is starting to heat up, but we've heard this before. And it's not quite clear who is having these talks, as director Guillermo del Toro and star Ron Perlman 'talk' about the movie all the time.

Jeffrey Tambor dropped this tease on the The Colbert Report, where he gave a pretty good reason why this needs to happen soon if it's going to happen at all:

"There is actually talk of a 'Hellboy 3,' but they better hurry or I'm going to be in a walker."

Hellboy and its sequel Hellboy II: The Golden Army have gained a huge cult following in the decade since the franchise first kicked off. While Ron Perlman is most adamant that the sequel needs to happen to finish the trilogy properly, it's Universal who has not moved forward on the property. When Guillermo del Toro moved to Legendary Pictures, there was speculation that the director might take the franchise there. That has yet to happen.

Its unlikely that Hellboy 3 will happen anytime soon. Probably not even in the next few years. It could see a complete reboot before the sequel ever gets green lit, which sounds par for the course these days. But not all hope is dead, as you can see from Jeffrey Tambor's statement. No one thought Deadpool was ever going to move forward, and its continued fan support has given it a 2016 release date.

We'll have to wait and see if this eventually pans out. In the meantime, we can daydream about the Hellboy, Ghostbusters and Bill & Ted crossover mega-movie that is currently playing in purgatory.
